Chas has been studying, teaching and performing Middle Eastern / North African and Turkish percussion for over 15 years. Predominantly self-taught he has taken instruction from many of the best Arabic and Turkish percussionists and has travelled extensively and studied in Turkey . Morocco , Israel and Egypt . Known for his relaxed and informative teaching style, Chas teaches regularly all over the UK and in Turkey and Egypt and has taught at events such as Majma, Bellydance Congress, Sirocco , Glastonbury Festival, Womad, Drum Camp, Tribe Of Doris and many others. He plays in several bands and accompanies many dancers in performance and has played at events such as Glastonbury Festival , Bath Fringe Festival , Majma, Sirocco, Shambala Festival , etc. He also sells a wide range of traditional Arabic percussion and his website is the most comprehensive for information on DVD's books, CD's etc. for learning Arabic percussion. Based near Bath/Bristol – Chas is available for tuition – group, one-one, beginners to advanced, schools, corporate etc. all over the country and internationally as are his bands and he is available as a solo artist and/or with his partner Maren Lueg ( traditional Mid East and Turkish wind instruments )

Maren Lueg - Arabic & Turkish Nay Flute, Turkish Clarinet, Zurna, Mizmar and Saxophone and Silver Flute. Maren was born and raised in Germany and is now resident in the UK . Inspired by the sounds she heard from the Turkish and East European communities. She began studying these styles as well as Jazz, Blues and Latin on the saxophone and flute. Moroccan Memories in Britain is a national oral and visual history project, which has collected over 100 hundred life stories from three generations of Moroccans living in Britain since January 2007 . As part of the project, a compilation CD, Moroccan Melodies in Britain , featuring some of the extremely talented UK-based Moroccan musicians has been produced. .
