Video and
DVD Seminars We will soon be introducing seminars looking
at Egyptian Dancers from the 1940s to the modern day and the development
of dance scenes in the UK, Europe and USA. These sessions are very
informal and will include discussion time.
Guest speakers will introduce a fascinating selection of film clips,
discussing costuming, dance styles and other interesting points
about the dancing and then further discussion with participants
to finish off.
Where possible, we will be giving handouts itemising videos/DVDs
and stockists.

What’s the difference? We will be concentrating on folkloric
styles in Egypt and looking at the Government sponsored troupes
and how they are changing the folkloric and oriental style for better
or for worse. We will also touch on the folkloric styles of the
Levant, Maghrib and the Gulf.
Differences between Egyptian, Lebanese, Turkey
and other Oriental dance styles Vashti
A commonly asked question but difficult to describe. Through watching
videos of dancers from these different countries and dancers in
the US who specialise in some of these styles, we can become better
