Ewa Horsfield grew up in an artists studio, her mother a choreographer and her family actors and theatre directors, she studied dance from the age of 6.

She worked as an arts administrator and programmer before marrying the international artist Craigie Horsfield, work they made together is in the collections of museums across Europe and the US.

Ewa has 20 years experience in bellydance first studying in London with Sara Farouk Ahmed and over nearly 10 years, during regular visits to Cairo , with Raqia Hassan, Randa Kamel, Lubna Emam amongst many others.

She continues to be deeply involved in the modern belly dance scene - with the music, the performers, the context, the culture.

She worked for two years for the Ahlan Wa Sahlan festival in Cairo with a wide range of oriental and folkloric classes with top Egyptian teachers and performers. She recently became the only British based dancer to have finished Raqia Hassan's intensive teaching course in Cairo.

Ewa performs frequently and has twice been the star for the Planet Egypt showcase, in March performing with Sheik Taha, one of Egypt's most famous musicians, with whom she is currently collaborating on music especially composed for her. In March 2007 she also performed in Khaled Mahmoud's Egyptian Moonlight . Ewa teaches and gives workshops.

Her signature style bridges traditional dance and the evolving contemporary, while she is deeply engaged in current developments in bellydance worldwide she retains a strong attachment to Cairo old and new and it is this synthesis, with its passionate and deeply informed expression, which established her following among dance enthusiasts.
